One Day TMS Protocol

ONE DAY TMS PROTOCOL

Traditional TMS treatment typically involves daily sessions over five to six weeks. While highly effective, the time commitment can be difficult for some patients.

At Advanced Psychiatry of Elgin, we offer an innovative One-Day TMS Protocol designed to provide accelerated treatment for eligible patients in a significantly shorter timeframe.

This protocol utilizes advanced TMS technology and carefully structured treatment sessions completed over the course of a single day.

What Makes the One-Day Protocol Different?

Traditional TMS treatments are delivered over several weeks. The One-Day Protocol uses multiple treatment sessions strategically spaced throughout the day to promote meaningful changes in brain activity and neuroplasticity.

Rather than attending treatment appointments for over a month, eligible patients complete their treatment during a single treatment day lasting approximately 11 hours.

The goal is to deliver the therapeutic benefits of TMS in a condensed format while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and treatment effectiveness.

Benefits of the One-Day Protocol

  • Treatment completed in a single day
  • Non-invasive
  • No anesthesia or sedation required
  • Minimal side effects
  • No memory loss or cognitive impairment
  • Return to normal activities after treatment
  • Personalized treatment planning

Conditions Treated with the One-Day Protocol

Depression

The One-Day TMS Protocol is primarily designed for individuals struggling with depression, particularly those who have not experienced adequate relief from traditional treatments. By combining advanced TMS technology, a neuroplasticity-focused treatment schedule, and adjunctive medication support, the protocol aims to promote meaningful changes in brain activity associated with mood regulation.

Anxiety

For some individuals, anxiety symptoms may occur alongside depression and significantly impact daily life. During your consultation, Dr. Malik and our clinical team will evaluate your symptoms, treatment history, and goals to determine whether the One-Day Protocol may be an appropriate treatment option as part of your overall care plan.

What to Expect

The One-Day Protocol consists of multiple Theta Burst TMS treatment sessions delivered throughout the day, with scheduled breaks between sessions. Patients typically spend approximately 11 hours in the clinic. During this time, treatment sessions are carefully scheduled with rest periods to support the neuroplastic changes that occur throughout the treatment process.

As part of the protocol, patients receive D-cycloserine, a medication that may help enhance the brain’s ability to respond to treatment and support the neuroplastic changes associated with TMS therapy.

Patients remain awake and comfortable throughout treatment and are closely monitored by our clinical team during the entire day.

Insurance Coverage and Cost

Because the One-Day Protocol is an innovative accelerated treatment approach, it is currently not covered by insurance plans.

During your consultation, our team will review costs, payment options, and determine whether the One-Day Protocol or a traditional TMS treatment course may be the best fit for your clinical needs and financial considerations.

We believe in transparency and will ensure you have a clear understanding of all costs before beginning treatment.

Our mission is to walk alongside you on your journey toward wellness, offering innovative treatment options when traditional approaches have not provided sufficient relief.
