Accelerated TMS

Traditional TMS therapy is typically delivered as one treatment session per day, five days per week, over the course of five to six weeks.

For eligible patients seeking a more condensed treatment schedule, Advanced Psychiatry of Elgin offers Accelerated TMS, an innovative treatment protocol that delivers multiple TMS sessions per day over a one-week period.

This approach allows patients to complete treatment in significantly less time while still benefiting from the therapeutic effects of TMS.

How Accelerated TMS Works

Accelerated TMS consists of:

  • 10 treatment sessions per day
  • 5 consecutive treatment days
  • Approximately 1 week to complete treatment

By delivering multiple Theta Burst TMS treatment sessions each day, Accelerated TMS is designed to promote meaningful changes in brain activity while shortening the overall treatment timeline.

Benefits of Accelerated TMS

  • Treatment completed in approximately one week
  • Shorter overall treatment schedule
  • Non-invasive treatment
  • No anesthesia or sedation required
  • Minimal side effects
  • No memory loss or cognitive impairment
  • Return to normal activities after treatment

Who May Be a Candidate?

Accelerated TMS may be appropriate for individuals who:

  • Are struggling with depression despite previous treatment attempts
  • Have difficulty committing to a traditional 5–6 week treatment schedule
  • Are seeking innovative treatment options
  • Want a more condensed treatment timeline

A comprehensive evaluation is required to determine whether Accelerated TMS is appropriate for your specific needs.
